At the start of 2023, there was doom and gloom everywhere, and looming recession. Add to this the pressures that magazine media faces every year: endemic print decline; the constant challenge to keep our media and brands relevant for our often-young buyers; whilst taking our more traditional print clients on a digital journey, we knew it would be a challenging year, and that we would need to innovate to succeed.
Appointing our first female MD, we decided to do things differently. It was time to prove the value of our highly engaged, contextual audiences, our valuable first party data and insight, and our innovative solutions.
Our vision was to do better by our people, our clients, and the planet.
Focusing in on our team, our culture and the things we could control, we drove 18% digital growth; outperforming our direct competitor set by a massive 24 points and doubling our market share. Immediate Ad Sales had a record-breaking year – completely bucking the trend of a very challenged market.
