Client: Nurofen
For too long, women have had their symptoms dismissed by their GPs. In fact, Nurofen’s pioneering Gender Pain Gap research report found that 56% of women have felt that their pain is trivialised by healthcare professionals, an attitude that seeps into their private lives where one in four women say their partners or spouses don’t take their pain seriously (compared with one in six men) and more than 60% have had their employer dismiss their pain as minor. A huge shift in societal attitudes and knowledge was needed so we could begin to close the gender pain gap, and Guardian Labs was delighted to be able to work with Nurofen and Zenith to put this important message front and centre, with See My Pain. We aimed to reframe the gender pain gap for what it really is – a public health crisis that affects all of society.
