2024 was a transformative year for the digital operations of Times Media. Faced with disruption and change, the commercial team broke new ground, adapting and innovating to create winning advertising solutions and packages for some of the world’s biggest brands, including Google, BT, Chanel and Waitrose. One key decision was to put ‘subscriber experience’ at the centre of our thinking, ensuring that our long-term commercial strategy drove product innovation and the diversification of revenues without compromising our editorial quality or sacrificing the trust and loyalty built with our subscribers.

New products included enhanced targeting solutions, sponsored editorial videos and podcast series, and even lowering our paywall for an entire weekend. We also rolled out more data literacy training for our sales teams, boosting Nucleus (our in-house data management solution) usage by 80%. In 2024, our commercial team achieved exceptional growth, driving digital revenue up +15% YoY, with a record-breaking Q4 (+£1m). Event revenues surged +20%, partnership revenues rose +17%, and branded content hit an all-time high +500 pieces (+25% YoY). We secured over 400 new high-value clients (£10k+) up YoY by 22% and launched 30+ innovative new products. Crucially, we boosted subscribers by +5% and improved retention by +10% YoY.
